Attributes are a mechanic in #COMPASS that works similarly to Rock-paper-scissors (Janken).

Each card has a set colour out of red, blue or green that is displayed in a bar at the top as seen below.

This colour determines the attribute that is gained when the card is 'applied'. In battle, cards that are in the players deck can be swiped down in order to change the current attribute. This can not be done if the card is on cooldown, but it also does not consume the card. The current attribute can be changed at any time, even during attacks. You will start the game with the attribute of the first card in your deck already applied.

As mentioned above, the system works in a similar way to Rock-paper-scissors, with attributes being strong and weak against others. There is an in-game diagram to help display this.

Each attribute is named after one of the classical elements (with the exception of air) and are listed as follows:

Firesymbol
Fire Attribute (火属性): Increases damage against Earth attribute enemies to x1.2
Earthsymbol
Earth Attribute (木属性, lit. "Wood Attribute"): Increases damage against Water attribute enemies to x1.2
Watersymbol
Water Attribute (水属性): Increases damage against Fire attribute enemies to x1.2

The current attribute of you (and the enemy) can be seen next to their name and health bar. Your own attribute can be seen at all times but to see the enemies attribute you must first attack them.

Deck[]

A more simple way to deal with the attribute triangle is to look at the bottom of the cards in your deck. Whilst the top of the card shows its attribute, the bottom will show the colour that it is strong against. This is a good way of quickly working out which attribute to switch to in the heat of battle. This can be seen below.
